You shouldn’t have to jiggle your door knob for two minutes every time you come home. You shouldn’t stand outside in the cold because your deadbolt decided to quit. And you definitely shouldn’t wonder if someone from three owners ago still has a key.
When your door hardware stops working right, it’s more than annoying. It’s a security risk. It wastes your time every single day. It makes you look bad when guests can’t get in smoothly.
We handle door knob installation and door knob replacement the way it should be done—proper alignment, quality parts, smooth operation. You get hardware that works the first time you turn the key and keeps working. No callbacks next month because something’s already loose or sticking.
We’ve been doing locksmith work since the late 1800s. Tom McCausland runs the operation now with his daughter Chrissy—fourth generation. We’re not a call center or a subcontractor network. We’re the largest locksmith operation in the Delaware Valley, and we’ve been serving Gradyville and Delaware County families for over 140 years.
When your neighbors recommend us, they’re recommending more than a century of showing up on time and doing the work right. We have a real storefront in Prospect Park where you can walk in, see products, and talk to someone who actually knows what they’re doing.
Gradyville homeowners deal with the same issues as the rest of Delaware County—older homes with misaligned doors, new construction that needs quality hardware, and everything in between. We’ve seen it all, and we know how to fix it without the runaround.
You call or stop by our storefront. We ask what’s going on with your door hardware—is it loose, sticking, broken, or do you just want an upgrade? If you need us to come out, we typically arrive within 20 to 30 minutes for emergency work, or we schedule a time that works for you.
When we get there, we assess what you actually need. Sometimes it’s a simple fix. Sometimes you need full door knob replacement. We tell you what it’ll cost before we start, and we don’t talk you into services you don’t need.
We handle the installation with the right tools and the right parts—OEM hardware from manufacturers like Kwikset, Schlage, and Medeco. The door gets aligned properly so the latch catches smoothly. The strike plate sits flush. The knob or lever turns without resistance. We test everything before we leave.
If you need other work done—rekeying, deadbolt installation, mailbox locks—we handle it all in the same visit. You’re not waiting around for multiple appointments or dealing with three different companies.
Ready to get started?
Professional door knob installation means more than just screwing hardware onto a door. We make sure the bore hole is the right size and clean. We check that the door sits square in the frame. We adjust the strike plate so the latch engages without you having to slam the door. We use quality parts that last.
Gradyville has a mix of older homes and newer construction, and each presents different challenges. Older homes often have doors that have settled or frames that have shifted over time. That means hardware needs to be installed with adjustments to compensate for alignment issues. Newer homes sometimes come with builder-grade hardware that fails fast—we swap it out for something that actually holds up.
We carry passage knobs for interior doors, keyed entry knobs for exterior doors, and lever handles for accessibility or preference. If you’re dealing with a commercial property, we handle that too. Standard door knob installation typically runs between $95 and $135 for passage knobs, and $110 to $155 for keyed entry knobs. That’s transparent pricing with no surprise fees when we’re done.
You’re not paying dealership rates. You’re not getting talked into unnecessary upgrades. You’re getting a locksmith who’s been doing this work for generations and knows the difference between a quick fix and a lasting solution.
Door knob installation in Gradyville typically costs between $95 and $357 per door, depending on the type of hardware and complexity of the job. Standard passage knobs for interior doors usually run $95 to $135. Keyed entry knobs for exterior doors cost $110 to $155. If you’re installing higher-security locks or dealing with alignment issues that require door adjustments, the price goes up.
We give you the cost upfront before we start. No surprise fees when the job’s done. If your door needs extra work—like fixing a misaligned frame or replacing a damaged strike plate—we tell you that before we charge you for it.
The price includes the hardware, installation, and testing to make sure everything works smoothly. If you need multiple doors done or additional services like rekeying, we handle it all in one visit so you’re not paying for multiple service calls.
Yes, in most cases. If you’re dealing with an emergency—a broken lock, a door that won’t latch, or a security concern—we typically arrive within 20 to 30 minutes. For non-emergency door knob installation or door lever installation, we can usually schedule you the same day or within 24 hours, depending on our availability.
We run a mobile fleet throughout Delaware County, which means we’re positioned to respond fast. We’re not a call center that farms out jobs to subcontractors who might show up three days later. We’re the ones who actually do the work, and we show up when we say we will.
If you need to see hardware options first, you can stop by our storefront in Prospect Park. We’ll show you what we carry, talk through your options, and either handle simple installations right there or schedule a visit to your property in Gradyville.
A door knob is the round handle you twist to open a door. A door lever is the handle you push down to open a door. Both do the same job, but levers are easier to operate if you have your hands full, mobility issues, or just prefer the look and feel.
Levers are often required in commercial buildings for accessibility compliance, but plenty of homeowners choose them for convenience. If you’re carrying groceries or dealing with arthritis, a lever is easier to use than a knob. Some people just think they look better.
From an installation standpoint, the process is nearly identical. The hardware mounts the same way, uses the same bore holes, and requires the same alignment. If you’re replacing a knob with a lever or vice versa, we can usually use the existing holes as long as they’re standard size. If not, we adjust or redrill as needed. Either way, the installation is straightforward, and both options come in keyed or passage versions depending on where you’re installing them.
Not if it’s done right. Professional door knob installation uses the existing bore holes whenever possible. If the holes need to be enlarged or adjusted, we use the right tools to do it cleanly without splintering the wood or damaging the door’s finish.
Where people run into problems is when they try to force hardware that doesn’t fit, drill holes in the wrong spot, or use a cheap installation kit that cracks the door. We’ve fixed plenty of DIY jobs where someone watched a YouTube video and ended up with a door that looks like it got attacked with a drill press.
We measure twice, drill once, and make sure everything sits flush. If your door has damage from a previous installation—stripped screw holes, chipped wood, a poorly placed bore—we can fix that too. Sometimes it’s a simple wood filler and touch-up. Sometimes we need to patch and redrill. Either way, you end up with a clean installation that looks like it was always there.
It depends. If you’re moving into a new home in Gradyville, yes—you should rekey or replace the locks. You don’t know who has keys from previous owners, contractors, or tenants. If you’re just upgrading old hardware on a home you’ve lived in for years, rekeying isn’t necessary unless you’ve lost keys or had a security concern.
Rekeying means we change the internal pins in the lock so old keys no longer work. You get new keys, and anyone with the old ones is locked out. It’s cheaper than replacing the entire lock, and it takes about 10 minutes per lock. If you’re already having us install new door knobs, we can rekey them at the same time so everything’s keyed alike—one key opens all your exterior doors.
If you’re installing brand-new locks, we can set them up keyed alike from the start. That way you’re not fumbling through five different keys every time you need to get in the house. We handle it all in one visit, so you’re not dealing with multiple service calls or trying to coordinate with different companies.
We install Kwikset, Schlage, and Medeco—three of the most reliable names in door hardware. These aren’t the cheapest options at the big-box store, but they’re the ones that actually last. We use OEM parts, which means you’re getting manufacturer-quality hardware, not knockoffs that fail in six months.
Kwikset is solid for residential use—affordable, reliable, and easy to rekey if needed. Schlage is a step up in durability and security, and it’s what we recommend if you want something that’s going to take a beating and keep working. Medeco is high-security hardware, usually for commercial properties or homeowners who want the best protection available.
If you already bought hardware somewhere else and just need it installed, we can do that too. But if it’s cheap hardware, don’t be surprised if we tell you it’s not going to hold up. We’d rather be honest upfront than have you call us back in three months because the lock’s already falling apart. We’ll install what you want, but we’ll also tell you if you’re better off with something that actually works long-term.
